Our Story

We built an efficient, low-cost system for managing our own properties that became the basis for forming Mae Management, and then expanded our successful model to helping folks like you.

Over several years, our capabilities and experience have grown to the point where we can offer all the services of large, institutional property management firms, but without all the hassle, cost, and complexity.

Property management is about relationships and people. Our clients appreciate our hands-on approach. They can call us anytime and we always have time to talk through any issue with them.

Nadine Merz

Property Manager

Nadine has a B.S. in Marketing from Arizona State University and previously worked in the airline industry. She started her real estate career working with owners in the resale timeshare business and also has been a commercial property owner since 2003.

She is a member of the San Diego Association of Realtors(SDAR) and holds a Property Management Certificate(PMC) from the California Association of Realtors(CAR).

Nadine has been happily married for 30 years and has three children. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, working out, and spending time with family and friends.



J.B. Haskett

Broker

CA License No. 0171609

JB has 17 years of experience in the real estate industry as both a broker and an attorney. In recent years he has focused his real estate and legal practices to commercial properties where he works with both property owners and tenants. J.B. is a native San Diegan and is an avid University of Arizona Wildcat fans. Our landlord clients appreciate his legal perspective as it helps them better understand and navigate tenant and property issues.



David Scovell

Project Manager

David has extensive experience in the construction industry. After becoming our “go to” person for refurbishing vacant industrial suites, we began utilizing him to oversee more complex projects.

Property management often requires overseeing capital improvements and major repairs such as roof replacement, utility installations, and other capital improvements. Projects such as these require someone to oversee the details on behalf of the owner.

David is currently project manager on a $1 million retaining wall replacement project at 2612 Temple Heights Drive, Oceanside. This complex project requires oversight of fund control, coordination with utility providers, construction crew, and civil engineers.



Peter Merz

Advisory Board

In addition to being Nadine’s husband, Peter works full-time as a commercial real estate broker with Lee & Associates in Carlsbad where his focus is representing landlords.

When needed, he serves in an unofficial advisory role for Mae Management. His 23+ years of experience in the field gives him broad knowledge of leasing and management issues.

His experiences with other property managers, both good and bad, have helped guide Mae Management to being a special kind of company. He is especially knowledgeable in handling lease issues and is trained in AIR lease documents, the industry standard.

He also serves as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Carlsbad and through that role has built relationships with key people in the cities of North San Diego County.
